Faith in Change

The reality and certainty of life is that there will always be change. Last weekend, we said farewell to Murray and Coralee who have invested and shared life with the church for many years. They have blessed us and will be a blessing to Mareeba Baptist and the community. But it is more change.
Over the last seven years the church family has experienced a number of changes in leadership with Pastor Alan, Pastor Bob, Pastor Joshua, Pastor Troy and now Pastor Murray all moving into other ministry areas in response to God’s calling. This has been significant in terms of relationships, direction and heart of the church family. And in these times of change, we can feel a loss of security, familiarity and sometimes hope. But let me encourage us with these words from Psalm 121:
I lift up my eyes to the hills, where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you—the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forever more.
These verses have helped me as I have looked for God’s help in change and challenges of life. I pray that we might know these truths as we navigate change knowing that He will watch over us and is guiding our steps. He is our confidence.
God bless.  Pastor Stephen
