Nothing Stays the Same

Nothing stays the same forever.
As we move on in life one thing we know is that change is one of the certainties of our world. In our lifetimes, we have seen huge change in our world, our nation, in the attitudes of people, in our neighbourhoods, family and in our church.
Sometimes things change so rapidly that we barely have time to catch our breath. In other cases, change can be slow and gradual—so slow that we might not realise it is happening.
As Coralee and I prepare to move on to service at Mareeba Baptist Church, we are finding ourselves in the middle of change. After 30 years of living in the same house and more than 35 years attending this church, this means quite a big change and it is happening quickly.
For many, change can be frightening. Others find it exciting. But losing hold of things that give you stability in life brings with it a number of challenges.
However in this world of change there is one thing that never changes—and that is God and His love for us. “I the Lord do not change” declares God as recorded in Malachi 3:6. Hebrews 13:8 reminds us “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Eventually, things will change when this world is no more. And yet God will not have changed. He is the anchor to hold onto throughout our lives, because he will still be there when all else disappears. And He will keep you safe forever.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the love and support that you have shown to us over so many years as we all have served the Lord together in this church.  God Bless.  Pastor Murray
