Crossing the Street—Living Alongside with the Hope of Jesus #1: Sent like the Son

As followers of Jesus, we are called to cross the street, step out, build bridges and meet people where they are at with the hope and message of Good News.

John 20:1-23 and Mark 1:9-15

It is also a time to reflect on the mission I am called to in my own neighbourhood.

Today we commence Baptist Mission Australia (formerly GIA) May Mission Month. It is an opportunity to focus in on what Baptist’s are doing in mission around the world, to be prayerful, and to make aware ways in which we can partner and support projects in local communities. It is also a time to reflect on the mission I am called to in my own neighbourhood.

Our May Mission month project this year is the Cambodia Vocational Training Centre and Café. The Crilley family, whom we support, along with other families are working directly in this project. Through the month we will be gaining insight into this project and life on mission in Cambodia. Across this month, we will also reflect on our own mission in our neighbourhood.

The messages through this month are entitled “Crossing the street—living alongside with the hope of Jesus.” Scott Pilgrim, Executive Director of Baptist Mission Australia, will be sharing (via video) our first message, “Sent like the Son.” As followers of Jesus, we are called to cross the street, step out, build bridges and meet people where they are at with the hope and message of Good News. Our message is this: “The Kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” (Mark 1:15)

What a gift to share with others—an eternal relationship with the Lord.

God bless

Pastor Stephen
