Priscilla - A Woman of Faith

Courage, care, love of God’s Word, faith, perseverance, sacrifice, humility, and hospitality mark the faith and life of Priscilla.

Heb 11:1-2

To all the women who faithfully serve their Lord, invest, and disciple others, may you know God’s blessing

This Sunday is nominated “Mother’s Day” in our western culture. For me, today is a wonderful opportunity to honour women everywhere, who invest, care, love, teach, and grow others around them. And today, I especially want to thank Christian women who share life, faith, and hope as they disciple others towards, into and on with Christ.

Priscilla (Prisca) was such a woman. She and her husband Aquila came to faith in Jesus through Paul’s ministry in Corinth. Over time, a deep friendship and ministry developed between Paul and this couple. Priscilla was instrumental in support and encouragement of Paul’s ministry and mission. They followed Paul from Corinth to Ephesus. In Ephesus, Priscilla took the lead, along with Aquila, and they helped to disciple Apollos, a great preacher. She helped disciple other believers in their home in Ephesus and later Rome.

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for” (Heb 11:1-2)
