Endurance is part of the journey. Faith and belief in God are our part. God’s promise is He will always surround and hold us.

Psalm 125

There is always a security in the arms of God no matter what the outcomes might be.

The year was 2021, just before Christmas. We had accepted a call to pastor at Bundaberg Baptist Church. Our house was sold awaiting settlement in late January. Our three children had just started school holidays. We were on the way to my doctor’s appointment when a car pulled out and hit our car. We were all okay, but our car was a right-off. We were a one car family so no means of transport, trying to get ready for Christmas, and preparing to move. We had also planned to travel to Bundaberg just before Christmas to look for accommodation before we commenced. Our insurance company couldn’t process the claim until the new year, and we were waiting on that payment to buy another vehicle. So, we prayed. Others prayed. People moved by the Spirit lent us a car. Bundy Baptist leaders found us a house to rent which we eventually bought. The insurance money when it came through was just enough to buy a secondhand Tarago van from a Christian friend who had a car dealership. God provided in many ways.

God also provided in another situation. In 1991, Kathryn’s Dad had a major complication to a chronic blood disorder. He was in hospital and getting worse. We all felt as we prayed that he would be healed. However, after a few months, he passed away. We asked why? We struggled with the loss. And God provided by wrapping his arms around us and assuring us of his love and promises. The outcomes weren’t what we had hoped, but we knew we were being carried. There is always a security in the arms of God no matter what the outcomes might be.

Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds his people both now and forevermore. (Psalm 125:1-2)

Endurance is part of the journey. Faith and belief in God are our part. God’s promise is He will always surround and hold us. In that we find peace no matter the outcome. In your life and circumstances, know His promise of strong surrounding arms holding you.
