Jesus says “I am the light for the world. Follow me and you won’t be walking in the dark. You will have the light which gives life.“

John 8:12
When we truly trust the Light, fear loses its grip, and we walk confidently with Him.
The account of Jesus healing the blind man in John 9 is central to the whole book. It dramatically proves his claim in John 8:12, “I am the light for the world. Follow me and you won’t be walking in the dark. You will have the light which gives life.” (CEV)
Spiritual Blindness vs. Illumination. Light helps us to see the truth. The Pharisees witnessed the miracle yet remained blind. Spiritual blindness is not a lack of information but a refusal to be taught by God. On the other hand, the healed man recognised the truth and held on to it, “I was blind, but now I see” (John 9:25).
Darkness of Death vs. Hope of Life. Darkness symbolises sin and judgement. Like the blind man was in darkness from birth, so too we are all under the shadow of death. Jesus’ touch and the washing in Siloam are a living picture of resurrection: what was dead now lives, what was dark now blazes with eternal day because of justification through Christ.
Fear vs. Trust. Fear made the Pharisees rage and the blind man’s parents cower from their interrogation. On the other hand, the man who received sight feared nothing after his encounter with Jesus. He stood up the intimidation of the Pharisees. He had the courage to declare “Lord, I believe” (John 9:38). His heart was flooded with grateful worship. When we truly trust the Light, fear loses its grip, and we walk confidently with Him.
May Jesus Christ light the way for you this Christmas.
Jesus says “I am the light for the world. Follow me and you won’t be walking in the dark. You will have the light which gives life.“
God bless
