The Greatest Day in History

Over the centuries there have been some truly momentous events. Easter is truly the greatest event in history.

Luke 24:1-12, Gal 3:28

Hallelujah, the grave could not hold Jesus.

Humans harnessing fire, the invention of the wheel, smelting metals, the written word, the printing press, putting a man on the moon, and so many other events that have changed the course of the world. There would be debates over which event was the greatest.

I will say that the events of Passover about AD33 were the greatest events in history. The way we number years revolves around these few days nearly 2,000 years ago. What makes them the greatest? Glad you asked. The biggest things to haunt humans have been sin and death. Sin is missing the mark, doing that which we know is wrong, not doing the things we should do, and generally being fallible people. We are all aware of our own weaknesses. Except for the rare super narcissist who totally doesn’t get it.

Jesus Christ, the second person of the Trinity, entered the world as a man and showed us how to live. His perfection was so stark that some people were drawn to him, while others were threatened by him. The latter conspired to kill Jesus and get rid of the threat, the events of Good Friday.

But, hallelujah, the grave could not hold Jesus. Jesus defeated sin and death and rose to life again. This means that anyone who believes in Jesus and follows by faith will have their misdeeds forgiven and have an eternal home with Jesus.

Easter is truly the greatest event in history.
